The damp air felt cool as it splattered across my face. Henry’s arms wrapped tightly around me as he propelled us forward through the night. The ground moved swiftly beneath us, uneven and firm. I had been drifting in and out of consciousness since we had fled Highgate Cemetery. How long ago had that been? My body ached all over, I felt drained, my senses fuzzy. Burying my head into his chest I closed my eyes and inhaled; gone was his familiar scent, he smelled of dirt and of death.

In book two of the Rose trilogy, The Descent, we pick up with Rose where her tale left off in The Awakening. Her whole world has been turned upside down and now she must flee London or face unknown consequences.

The Descent takes on a much darker tone to that of book one. Her enemies are no longer mere mortals and she has only just begun to unravel the secret truth of what she really is and why she has been chosen.

Expect a bloodier and faster paced story, as Rose and her companions travel through barren landscapes and sleepy rural villages in search of refuge, leaving a bloody path of destruction in their wake.
